Everything is fixed (thanks for help) and I am now into clean-up and
rebuild. Was trying to re-build flippers, but sleeves appear to be
stuck on all three flippers. According to Marvin's repair guide this
is due to the heat stress and the coils should be replaced. Flippers,
however, work fine. The question is: do I have to spend $30 on coils
that work except for the stuck sleeves, or do I just leave it alone?
Thanks for help.

If the flippers are plenty powerful enough, just clean the inside of the
sleeve really well and put it back together. Then go ahead and spend the $30
(or $15 for one? then when you use it order another) for spares and replace
when necessary.

Sometimes those sleeves can be surgically removed, but when you go to
install a replacement you will have to shave the sleeve so it will fit. I've
done it several times on repair calls when waiting on a replacement coil is
not convenient.

I've always been able to remove them. You can
buy a 4 piece pick set from the local Harbor Freight,
or snatch a good ice pick from somewhere to use
to remove it. Slip it between the sleeve and the coil
and fold the sleeve in. Needlenose pliers will allow
you to extract the old sleeve.

If the new sleeve won't go, a pencil wrapped with
~320 grit sandpaper will clean up the inside of the
coil. *IF* you get the sleeve stuck before it goes
in, a metal coil sleeve from the junk pin makes a
handy tool to push the new sleeve out without causing
damage. ;)
