Hi,

Just put together a new pc yesterday with the following specs.

A7n8x deluxe
2600+
2x 256 pc2700
etc
etc

The problem is both windows and pcmark 2002 report the processor as either being 1.24ghz or a AMD duron. I've left the bios as standard - am I doing something wrong? I don't want to over clock it but it would be nice to get it reporting correctly. I saw something about altering the FSB but I'm not sure about that...

Many thanks

first thots...FSB might be set to 100MHz. try setting it to 133 and 166, manually if needed. THis is definitely not overclocking. try if this helps... if not, u can always come back here.

Hi,

I set "CPU external frequency" to 166 and windows is reporting it correctly now - that was the right one wasn't it?

Thank you for your help!!!

Ben

yup, that was it...
All the mobos are backward compatible. SO i think they are set to accept the default CPU FSB to be 100 for the sake of older CPUs. I am glad ur problem is solved.
