Ok, I'm building a computer for my first time and may stop by later to ask a question or two when actually putting it together...but for now...

Does anyone have any idea when the release of the 3.2Ghz and the price cuts to follow will be? I have the money to build my system now (p4 3.0ghz, 1Gig Corsair 3500 XMS). I'm itching to just buy the system now because I have the money so right now it's just sitting dead in my bank account.

Does anyone have any solid guesses as to when 3.2Ghz will be released? If I go ahead and buy now I don't want to have it released the day after whereas I could have saved 100 bucks or so if I waited. Also, what is the likely price drop on the 3.0Ghz? Thanks for your help.

This is from the inquirer, so take it with a grain of salt. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=9800

I've heard not until October, and even then the only big drop would be the 3.0C

Well perhaps I'll wait a week or so, can't hurt anyway. I'm not going to wait until october even though the 3.0C price is what I'm waiting for.

The 3.2 Ghz should be out next week, on the 21st I think.

No price cuts are planned from Intel as far as I know. I'd suggest the 2.8C, coupled with a ASUS P4P800 (Springdale). It's what I ordered yesterday ;)

My system: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ / TwinMOS 1Gb DDR400 / Soltek 75FRN-RL /
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro / Antec True Power 550W / Western Digital Raptor / Hercules GTXP SC /
Samsung DVD / Lite-On CDRW

3.2c release date 23 June. Price $637 or $647. Are you going to over clock if so buy the 2.4c you can OC to 3.5.

I may overclock. This is my first self-built PC however and I'm not exactly an expert. From reviews I've seen the 3.0c retail comes with a newly designed fan/HS, copper and all. Easily OC's to 3.3Ghz with stock.

I'm planning to just stay with the stock fan for now. The PC is already costing enough. Plus I figure if the 2.4 can OC that high, if I decided to...I can OC the 3.0Ghz much higher.

Just curious what OC clock you think the 2.8c should be getting with stock hsf? I've heard 3.22 but I'm not sure if this is an extreme case or if it's standard.

One good deal I've seen is 2.6C for $215 at Newegg -- they are the only OEMs I've seen.

As I said, I'm no expert, but I'd guess 3.22 would be about right for the 2.8c. I'm not sure if that's the norm or high. Possibly high, if 3.3 is the norm for stock 3.0, then I'd assume about the same Mhz gain (300) for the 2.8 putting it closer to 3.1Ghz. Just a semi-educated guess though.

I can get my 1.8 to 2.4 with stock fan with ease, so it seems to me a 3.0 should be able to go a lot higher then 3.3... but is just me and i dont know the hardware personally...
