DVDs from XP not compatible with Windows 7?

My guess would be that you used some sort of packet writing program, commonly referred to as a "DVD as a floppy" or something similar. Discs written in this fashion need a special reader program installed on every other computer, otherwise Windows has no way to understand the contents of the disc.

+1, cl-scott is right on the money. What program was used to burn the DVD-RWs? Once you know that, just install the Win 7 version and you should be fine.
