So i wanted to upgrade the RAM on this: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/Oasis/1014077R...

It says it can handle 2GB of RAM and i noticed there are single 2GB sticks on amazon:

Crucial 2GB Single DDR2 667MHz - http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000F7QRTG/ref=d...

Kingston ValueRAM 2 GB 667MHz DDR2 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000Z70E36/ref=d...

Kingston ValueRAM 2GB 667MHz - http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000JREMTO/ref=d...

Was curious on whether or not it would make much of a difference if i did a single 2GB and attempted to try one of the existing ones just to see whether the laptop can handle more then what it says (with running memtest of course to verify it). With some PC's it is possible. Whether or not it would even work, my main concern is whether 1 - 2GB stick would make a difference, versus 2 1GB.

I would personally go to the Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot, GSkill, etc. sites and check for compatible ram through their memory finder tools. It's unlikely they will show any 2GB modules as being supported but (if wanting to experiment - I won't recommend it) it will give you an idea of what kind of ram specs the system is capable of running. As far as running one 2GB module instead of two 1GB modules, you would lose the dual-channel ability of the ram which isn't good. It's also possible you would lose dual channel by mixing ram sizes.
Hope it helps
