FSB speed

Hi, sorry to be a bit of a luddite with this one, but...

I recently bought a P4 2.4GHz on a P4PE (845PE) with 512MB DDR. When I discussed my purchase, the consultant highlighted the fact that it came with the 800MHz FSB. When I got the invoice home, I found that it said 533MHz FSB. I called the guy, we hotly argued, he said the catalogue we looked at was out of date, and it would cost an extra fifty bucks to upgrade to get the 800MHz. So I did.

However, upon looking in Bios and running diagnostic checks, I'm told that the FSB is 133MHz. Doing some research told me that this quad(?) rating is different to the "marketing" rating, and that P4's with 200MHz can support hyperthreading.

My question (finally) is, can a 133MHz FSB run at 800MHZ, does this mean that the store overclocked my CPU to get to 800MHz, and if so, how can I check this?

P4 are quad pumped, so a 200mhz fsb P4 will be marketed as 800mhz fsb = 200 x 4

and

667mhz fsb = 166 x 4
533mhz fsb = 133 x 4
did you set the fsb right in bios?? most bios auto detects the cpu anyway. so if you didnt change any setting in bios, and the diagnostic program says that the fsb bus is 133mhz, this means you got a 533mhz fsb P4. you got ripped off
so take the chip back to the store and abuse the sh** out of them. get your money back and buy it somewhere else.

Thanks ten g, I didn't change anything in Bios and have had a couple of tools tell me 133MHz. I'm going to take it back and ram (pun intended) the entire PC up the guy's a$$!

And could/would they have overclocked it to reach 800MHz (P4PE MB)?

Tecnicaly it can be say as they pump 4X time per clock in the buffer before sending on a QDR bus 2*2 setting

Ok if you really have a P4 800 or C version you cpu should run much under 2 ghz on 133 fsb.To be sure if i were you i will ask for refund.
