Ive read several posts on these boards where people say that they have gotten/seen a Dell computer for like 600$ with a 2.4C processor, radeon 9800 pro, windows XP, plus a bunch of other things, where are you guys seeing this? because that sounds like an awesome deal.

If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is...

If the deal is true, be very aware of the quality of the hardware, there´s a bit of a difference between 6ns RAM and 12ns RAM... My advice would be to built it yourself.

I'd have a hard time believing that anyone could pick up a system from a major OEM with those kinds of specs at that price. Are you sure that it shouldn't have a 2 in front of it? I mean for that price they wouldn't even be making up their costs for just the hardware that would go into it. It's insane.

ive read the posts somewhere just cant seem to find them now...i think there was a bug or something on the Dell website so you would 15% of then another 15% off when you add it to the shopping cart, i think that deal is dead now tohugh, i just saw it in the Hot Deals section of anandtech forums.

Spelling mistakes or display errors doesn´t count in business, so if that is the deal, it is off in real life! All major companies are protected from that kind of errors!

Dell.com- Dimension XPS high-end computer $1650 after rebate
(expired)

(thanks, Tracy)

This new computer line looks very good, and has very high-end specs that some gamers and computer enthusiastics would like. For today only, coupon code B9D768F8C452 gives $100 off the purchase of a Dell Dimension XPS machine from Dell Home. Note that Dell Home does not have free shipping like Dell Small Business does, so the $100 pretty much just takes care of shipping. You can configure a Pentium4 2.8GHz 800MHz bus computer with 1GB of memory, Radeon 9800 128MB graphics card, 120GB hard drive, DVD-ROM drive, CD-RW burner, and no monitor for $1740. And a $100 mail-in rebate is available. Is this computer worth twice as much as most other computers, probably not, but this deal is worth posting because some people would love to get a home computer like this. This deal expires today.

So instead of a 2 in front of that price, just put a 1 instead. However, unfortunately this deal is not valid anymore.
