Tech question-JP (or Data Easts in general)

Hi all
Need some tech help. Trying to sort out some problems on a DE Jurassic
Park. Before yesterday, the game had a couple switch errors, but it
would start a game and otherwise play OK. Now, when I turn it on, it
calibrates the T Rex, goes into attract mode OK, but when the start
button is pressed, the game freezes up. DMD goes blank, no sound, but
several PF lights come on and stay on. Different lights each time.
Anybody else encountered this before?
Thanks in advance
Brian

Haven't seen it specifically. But you may want to check and make sure all 3
balls are in the lower ball trough- sounds like the game may be "looking"
for the balls- this game requires 3 in place in the lower trough before it
will let a game start....

If 3 balls are there, then you may have switch problems- switch(es) not
seeing the ball(s). Maybe put game in diagnostics mode - switch test - and
see if all 3 trough switches register....

Also couldn't hurt to call the Stern tech guys at 1-800-KICKERS. I've found
them to be really good/helpful in the past- often nailing weird stuff like
this right on the head...

Make sure your socketed chips are fully installed and no legs are bent
under. Also a good idea to press on the gray ribbon cable connectors to make
sure they are fully seated as well.

Please report back to this thread (or start a new one if you can't find this
one) with your results. Thanks.

You got it, Ray! There was a bad switch in the trough-3rd one from the
right. Switchy no clicky. I hate these damn DE roller switches. So,
does anyone know where I can get trough switches for DE pins? I will
also need to replace the center position switch under the T rex, if
anyone can tell me where to find those, LMK. Thanks for the responses!

Check the square connector that supplies +5 to the CPU section (forget
exactly where, but I'm thinking upper-left area of the head). It can
burn/deteriorate and cause the game to crash when the game is started
(coils fire).
