Vista not shutting down at certain times

Hello, I have an ASUS N50Vn laptop with vista home premium with 4GB RAM and the standard specs which comes with the system. Sometimes when i shut it down from the START MENU the shutting down screen appears and and will never shut down and will be in the same screen and i have to turn it off manually. This happens as a random event and i have upgraded the bios to the latest as well and it did not help. How could thsi problem be fixed?
