i have a asus a7v133m motherboard
is it possible to have a atlon xp m low voltage on a desktop motherboard:
voltage supoorted by the motherboard:
1.10v/1,15v/1,20v/.../1,85v
with an incertitude of 0,02-0,03v
an atlon xp m low voltage is operating at
1,25V/1,05v

-what are the problems i could have with the pins and are the pins compatibles?
-what about the voltage?
-the bios is compatible?
-where could i find this processor in europe?

i thot u were already in possession of a Mobile CPU and asking if u cud use it on a desktop board. But it seems to me like u are so free that u wanna complicate everything with trying to get a Mobile CPu for a desktop board. Instead, i suggest, thats a pretty old board. in case u were just thinking of upgrading, upgrade the mother board too.

an atlon xp 1400+ lv:
-25W !!!!
-low price near $57
-faster than a duron 1GHz

it's for making a pc silent without spending too much money in pc cases, in noise absorbtion material...(just a homemade regulators for the power suply(and fans that i have already)
and it also make less heat than a normal processor so the temperatures are more suportable in my room

and i want to know if it will works
thank for helping me
Edited by PCILENSIEU on 06/29/03 12:59 PM.

I had never thot of that. Of course the Mobile CPUs dissipate less heat. But i still think ur best option wud be to get a 1700+ that sells at about 42US$ on NewEgg. The latest bundled CPUs come with the HSF that run at 3300rpm at the max. i have such a piece. Its real quiet. Now the nosiest part of my case is the in-built Power Supply Fan.

And definitely the 1700+ is much better than the 1GHz Duron or the XP 1400+.

OK
but have you ever heard of such things?
(if my pc don't make any noise, i could let it on the night(server and/or downloading))
then the problem will be with the hard drive(i think i will cope with this problem(there is also software for making them less noisy))
maby it don't make a lot of noise when the hard drive don'r transmit vibrations

well i dont think it will work as effectivly as if it were in a mobile board...after all i dont think your board supports speed step. But if it is palamino then it may just run the same temp as a tbred.

According to new egg it uses slot A.. however i dunno how
EDIT: Socket A i dunno what i was thinking
acurate they are cause the pic is not of a moblie processor i beleive all mobiles are products of Germany (although i may be wrong) now if you are willing to spend the money...i would get a slk900 and a big low rpm 120mm case fan and a 1700 or greater pr processor...undervolt it (by 5-10percent, whatever is stable) and drop the core to about 1.2ghz (By multiplyers not fsb). Put the cpu fan in the front of the case to provide ventalation...it should spin slow enough it will be drowned out by the hard drive. This way you won't have any cpu fan.
Whats the worst case scenario...well if the cpu is putting out more heat than your heatsink can disipate it will SLOWLY start increasing in temperature...so all you gotta do is watch the temp and you should be at no risk. You could even try it w/o the case fan but i think it will get too hot.
That's my 2 cents.
