Ok I got a laptop from my grandmother that is an old Nobilis laptop that had one PC2100 128MB of ram stick in it.

I had two PC2-5300S 512MB ram sticks that I wanted to place in this laptop.

I had to carefully disassemble the laptop because they put the ram in the worst possible location on a laptop.

Anyways the ram fits PERFECTLY and I mean slot per slot perfectly but the computer wont boot up using this ram.

Is there a way to get this ram to work because this computer would be a LOT faster with a Gig of ram in it vs a sad 128MB of ram.

I know you may be thinking, "Well why not just BUY a PC2100 ram stick!?!" and the sad answer to that is I don't have a job and I don't have the spare money to buy the ram stick.

Can you Help Me?

I was going to use this computer as a simple gaming computer as the specs are.

32MB Video.

Hopefully 1 GB Ram.

1.6 GHZ CPU Single Core.

20 GB Hard drive.

It sounds like the motherboard in it is not compatible with PC2-5300 RAM. Most laptops can only go so far in the type of ram they use, especially the older ones. For the time being you are probably stuck with the RAM that came with it.
