Will my K7VM2 Run Barton?

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs Will my K7VM2 Run Barton?

It basically supports older chips (like the one I have atm -a "normal" Athlon 1.3ghz) and Athlon XPs.

I can't find anywhere on the site that show which XPs it will take though.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to run the Athlon 3000 Barton on the K7VM2?

Also I only have 512mb SDR ram (PC166(?) or whatever.)

Any replies would be much appreciated.

That board officially only supports 266MHz fsb, and all the bartons are at least 333. If you really want a 3000 you'll need a new mobo and ram, and if you are going that far you might as well buy one of the intel 2.6c or 2.8c systems.
