Under the process tab you can't right click and select "End Process Tree"
and have it go away?

It occurs during a variety of of applications like macromedia director
mx, windows media player, thunderbird, bitcomet to name just a few.

Its not really a problem with the applications as such as they none of
them really affect the other. I guess its more of a 'windows' system
problem. I had numerous problems with windows resulting in me having a
variety of bsod and not be able to boot up. I have since reformatted the
drive and reinstalled windows.

Anyway, yeah they programs crash. I CTRL-ALT-DEL it and get the task
manager. I then try to 'end task' it but although the dialogue box comes
up when you end the task nothing happens. I then attempt to kill the
process. same. process tree. same again. I believe that killing the
process should ideally work in the same way that a kill command works
but as I said nothing happens the application just stays frozen.

ps when I say im considering Linux I mean that as another partitioned os
and manly for developer reasons. Also there is alot more flexibility
over Linux then windows or so I am told.
