I had noticed this link was nothing more than a "Coming soon" about a week
ago. Now it's got a bit more info, including mention of a replacement
backglass (as if BEER could ever personally offend anyone, it's the drinker,
NOT the beer, sheesh)

http://www.sternpinball.com/nascar.shtml

I'm personally disappointed they can't figure out a way to incorporate Jr
saying "It don't mean sheeeeet"

They've changed the translite for the same reason "pork store" got
changed into "meat store" on The Sopranos.

Really! If a Miller Lite LOGO offends you are officially a hi-strung
tight-ass! I am curious how such people could actually WATCH a race
without being offended since there are beer ads everywhere? Must drive
em' crazy!

It is one more thing for the collectors to buy however...(more $$$ for
Stern)

"Hi-strung tight-ass"es (aka religious wackos/moral right) had alcohol
prohibited in the entire USA for a long time. There ramain numerous counties
that are still "dry". This is all because religious wackos are brainwashed
into thinking they should force their beliefs on others, up to and including
passing behavior-regulating legislation. They will do anything to protect us
from ourselves (aka the devil).

It might just not be the offence of the beer logo, if you operate the game
in a dry city or county, you might not be allowed to have a beer or alchohol
logo on a game. LTG :)

Thanks for that lovely dose of left-wing venom, Cody.

I was thinking it might be in order to accommodate places like
Chuck-E-Cheese or Disneyland or Sea World (a Miller competitor) or other
kid-friendly places that might have legitimate business reasons for not
wanting to promote Miller beer. Silly old me, I should have know it was
another right-wing conspiracy. ;-)

Which reminds me I still need side art for my Ice Cold Beer game. When I got
it, in southern Missouri, all the occurrences of the word "beer" was blacken
out on the control panel (was able to clean that off), the front glass had
the word beer razor bladed off (found another) and the side art totally torn
off. A few years back some guy had an NOS set, but I failed to win it on
eBay. Dangit! So they are out there!

I lived for a time in one of the dryest of counties (Athens, AL). Let
me tell you, it's the BIGGEST bunch of BULLSHIT you have ever been fed.
Those boys all drink...undercover. Dry counties are no diferent in
their intake per capita...they just feel better about it on Sunday.
Those who drink ALL drive to the county line every Friday to what? One
of six beer stores convieniently located EXACTLY at the county line.
They buy their beer & liquor and then drive home. HALLELUJAH! WE
SAVED SOME SINNERS FROM THE HORRORS OF AL-KEE-HOLL!!! Every year it
comes up for a referendum...and every year the "Preachers" go door to
door and shame the populous into giving their tax dollars to the county
next door.

Then again a good number of those boys drink it on the way home. What
a way to save souls...huh. Hypocrites, all.

Game does in fact look pretty cool, and Im not too big of a NASCAR
fan, but I bet those folks will pony up to this game big time making it
an instant sales sucess for Stern. Just having Sammy with the Music is
kinda' neat as well. I think this game has "Sleeper" writen all over
it!~Pinball Bret

Hmm, would that mean you'd need to remove the beer mugs from Cactus Canyon
in such an area?

It would depend on how strict the area is and what their enforcement is
like. I'm not in a dry area, so I have no idea how tolerant they may or may
not be. Politics could come into play to especially if it's an election year
and some candidate needs to make some points. LTG :)

Or you're worried that the location will kick out anything with a beer
logo so they don't offend their customers. Yes, it happens, even before
you can open your mouth at times.

When it's Nascar plush with the Viagra logo, you don't even bother
asking.

Are we assuming that "religious wacko" is a synonym for right winger
here? I thought the conservatives were going to save us from all those
crusading "Big Government" PC lefties. I'm confused. Who really has
the corner on self righteousness these days? I thought all rational
people, liberal or conservative, rejected religious zealotry. Isn't
that what we are supposedly fighting in Iraq? I think that was Cody's
point. He probably likes "real" conservatives who aren't running
marketing scams just to get power. You know, telling different lies
to different audiences, like telling Faux News nitwits they are saving
the us from the devil, and then telling Gen X Neo-Cons they are against
Government intrusion in our personal lives. I would guess after the
Schiavo fiasco, most people have seen through the hypocrisy, and
hypocrisy is what most people hate. Especially the arrogant, self
righteous type. JR.

Wasn't this issue similar to the Bally Party Animal translights that
allowed you to either have the beer or the root beer in the glass?
Maybe there will be a kit to come along for this Nascar one to cover
the offensive or illegal wordings on the translight.

You need to re-read the comment I responded to. I did not leap into the
topic. A comment was made about "tight-asses" being offended by a beer logo,
and I elaborated on that point. Nowhere did I state anything else, like you
imply. Neither did I make conjecture on why someone would or would not want
a beer logo on a game. I'm sorry I forced your knee-JERK reaction, but quite
frankly you can piss off.
