For those of you who have large (20+) pinball collections - how much
space in approximate square footage does that take up in your home? Are
the pins in your garage, basement, or elsewhere?

Well my walk out basement is 440 sq foot on one side. The laundry and
the stairs occupies a middle room, and then theres a single car large
garage on the other side. the single car garage is gonna get converted
to another 440 dq foot room. I have about 24 pins right now and have
room for several more. I hope that helps...

Have a look at Steve Charland's home remodel. All this just to
accomodate his games and he will still only be able to set up half of
them, maybe 40 games. http://home.comcast.net/~ccharland6/index.htm

a good rule of thumb is that 600 square feet will handle about 28-30
machines

give or take ....

Way too small for that many games.

Yeah I want to see how you can arrange 30 machines in a 20 X 30 room.
OOps and still be able to walk.

If you don't have any posts in the way or other obstructions, you can
get 6 per 100 sq ft. with just enough space to pull the glass out.
Parties would not be nice though as that's about 4 ft aisles back to
back playing and going up the middle could be difficult.

I have 797 sq ft to jam 34 or so in, I'll see how it goes and get some
pics up in a couple weeks. Damn stairs are messing me up big time!
Kills about 150 sq ft in the basement.

I have 12 games in a 168 Sq.ft. Two are SC & RFM. Plan on tripling the
size to house 35. Works on paper but is tight. Don

That's the problem you have to deal with. I decided to be able to have
enough games that I could keep running without constantly working on
them and still have enough of a selection. 20 games was the number I
designed my room to. Perfect for me.

I can also have a party with 30 people and not be too cramped. I even
hosted a buddy's company christmas party this January and it went off
without a hitch.

tv area, pool table, bar, seating area, darts, vids (4), pins (17),
puck bowler in 1200 square feet with tons of space for people. I could
slam the place out with 30+ games, but it wouldn't be any fun to move
around in.

How much space do you need for the pool table? I'd put some machines
in the garage instead to have a pool table - I have an area right by
the door about 15x 10 that I'd give over to this use.
(4x8 or 4.5x9 table.... probably 4x8)

I think the rule of tumb for a pool table is to figure out the size of
the table you want and then give yourself a 5' parameter for the sticks
to swing. (so 4x8 would need approx 14' x 18' . I am currently
planning on that much space in my game room for the pool table,
hopefully that will be enough, otherwise I will need to shrink the
table a bit more.

Well I am at 11 pins and my 11x19 room wont handle them. It will
handle 9 of them. Luckily I have a spare bedroom :>)

I built my gameroom to hold 22 pins along with the home theater at one
end and a garage door at the other end. Without those things it would
hold roughly 26-28 with every pin along a wall. If you put them in the
middle of the room you can squeeze in more. The dimensions are 30' x
24'. Hope that helps. JR.

I should add that I designed the room originally to hold a pool table
as well, but ditched the idea because I'd rather hold tournaments and I
have had up to 55 people so far without being too crowded. I do also
have another 30 set up in the basement and a bunch more in storage down
there along with the shop area. The basement is 50' x 28'. JR.

Oh no! That's a giant leap backwards!

Pool tables get old REAL fast. Too much
room, too much maintenance.

More boring than EBD....

I have 900 square feet of gameroom and it will easily handle 30 pins. Just
make sure you have the necessary power to handle them all.

That'll work... If you're shooting with 2 ft cues. Need at least a
cue-length around the perimeter of the table.

yeah based on the dimensions need I'm not gonna put a table in. At
least not in the basement..... I'll use that space instead for my
classic video console/computer collection. That will leave me room for
a couple more pins.
