Can you change a 34 bit system in a pc to a 64 bit?

How can I change my daughters 34 bit OS in her laptop to a 64 bit OS?

You can change the 32bit OS to a 64bit OS only by completing a full re-install.

This will require all your programs to be installed again as well as your data being put back.

This may be hard to achieve if you don't have a disk/license and can be hard to get back again to 32bit if you find that the drivers don't work in 64bit

You need a completely new OS install to get 64bit.
As Solar pointed out, this will wipe everything from the HDD. So back up anything you want to an external drive.

Also note that it must have 64bit capability. If its a very old laptop it might not in which case you won't be able to use a 64bit OS

If the laptop has less than 4gb of RAM there is little point going to a 64bit os for the sake of it. It will be no faster other than the clean install.

Switching from 32bit to 64bit kernels is pretty painless in everything but Windows. But for your typical case of using Windows, you'll want to reinstall the OS.
