I have a AMD XP 2100+ Palomino and I used to use a Volcano 7 heatsink/fan. It would idle around 48C and get to 56C under load. I couldn't stand the noisy fan so I ordered a
GlacialTech Igloo Silent Breeze 452 to replace it. http://www.glacialtech.com.tw/pdf/Silent Breeze462.pdf

Now my idle temp is 60C and gets to 67C at load. Are these temps too hot? The fan says its rated for 2700+ so I thought it would be ok. Thanks for any help

How are you measuring temps. ? try MBM5 its fairly accurate
if your already using this , then temps are on the high side , does the case have good ventilation ? I dont believe you'll do any damage to CPU though , also might try ASIII thermal compound , it may lower your temps

Well, if your system is stable, then no, it really isn't a big problem. Your temps are running a bit high and your CPU will probably die sooner than it would have with better cooling, but considering that no one really knows how many years that'd take anyway, most people don't care.

I'd say unless you have a reason to be concerned (as in instability of the computer) then don't be concerned.

67 degrees on load should definitely be OK for a 2100+ Palomino, whose max temp is 90 degrees.

Btw, you happy with your GlacialTech fan? I just ordered one for my P4, got tired of the extreme noise that the boxed fan was putting out.
