My cpu isn't showing up at the right speed?

Sounds to me like your multiplier's at 12.5 and your FSB is at 100MHz. Try setting your FSB to 166MHz and you should be in business.

You may have to change a jumper on your mobo to get to higher fsbs.
Go easy on the strangers Plll, they may help you out some day. After all, we aren't all perfect like Crashman.

That's fair enough, but I'm sure I've seen between 1 and 3 new posts like this every day over the last 6 months.... My technique usually involves learning about what you're doing FIRST, and THEN putting that knowledge into practice...

I couldn't agree more... There are too many people in the world who genrally rely on others! Most people are pefectly itelligent enough to work out their problems. But they just need the patience or will to do so. I mean this is pretty basic stuff ie. The complete basics. If the guy had done one snippet of rtfm/research he would have know what the problem was straight away. Instead he runs here where someone can tell him the answer.

I disagree. It took someone here 3 seconds to answer his question. For this guy, or anyone else, who has only basic knowledge they wouldn't know where or how to look even if the answer was out there. Maybe if the person had hung around for a week reading posts they would pick up on answers but honestly sometimes just asking is the best option.

Not Wishing to annoy anyone, or put people off, but building a PC is not something you should undertake so lightly. If you don't have even 'basic knowledge' then you shouldn't build a PC. There's loads of little pitfalls along the way to trip people up.

I do think everyone should build their own - there's no better way to learn if you ask me, and it's a satisfying thing to do, but you should be armed with information as basic as this before you begin...

I'm not badmouthing anyone here, and I'm happy to try and help anyone's problems, it's just that people are risking a lot of money's worth of components by not really knowing what they are doing - I just find it suprising.

Exactly.... I mean before I built my first PC I had heavily researched both AMD and Intel, and things as simple as FSB speeds were well within my comprehension. Even though back then it was alot less necessary !

I had this same problem untill yesterday...download the lateset bios, flashed it, and its fixed :-)
