I'm sure IBM will work out their issues with this fab. They have plenty of resources at their disposal for this sort of thing. Not to mention Intel having paved the way for everyone on 300mm fab development and tools. It's only a matter of time before the kinks are ironed out and everyone is happy.

Hope this doesn't affect its relationship with AMD.
AMD does not have a choice but to rely on IBM now. They haven't any resources of their own anymore so it seems they are at the mercy of others who are willing to bail them out.
Forget Apple they seem not to have a clue about anything...
You've got that right. I just loved seeing Rubinstein squirm when confronted with Opteron. They are living in their own private (make-believe) universe and have no concept of reality.

Wanted: Large breasted live-in housekeeper. Must be a good cook, organized, and willing to pick up after me.

It just prove Intel advantage over any others coporation on manufacturing process.IBM is just between what i call the 2ND groupe and intel.

I dont like french test

Splendid
AMD does not use that fab so no effect to them but if the problem lies with chip failure this could impact greatly on Nvidia. They had slated to have IBM make a lot of thier 52 & 5600 gpus.

That's somewhat true...
They have a full fab in Dresden, I believe, and an R&D fab in Austin...did I miss any? They might have a few e-test sites, and maybe a site that puts all the CPUs in boxes and such.
Since then, they have been building partnerships with foundries (like UMC, TMSC, and even IBM, and maybe even Fujitsu) to pretty much "build" their products for them. It's not new, and most likely a cost savings, but they don't have too many manufactuering fabs that I know of, unless they have secret fabs or something.....

:)

How many watts does it take to get the center of CPU core?

Where have you been???

I never said AMD didn't have any fabs. Are you completely unaware of the reports about IBM building a fab for AMD?

If they had no need for any new facilities then why would this make the news? Obviously they are production limited.

AMD does NOT have the resources to build new fabs, therefore, they ARE relying on IBM to help increase manufacturing capacity. Not to mention they are relying on IBM to develop future chip technologies.

And need I even say anything about Q2 earnings?

Please don't flame me for speaking the truth.

130 millimeters, with the silicon-on-insulator, copper technology, eight levels. This is our leading edge technology from architecture, micro-architecture optimization and process technology.
I had to quote this. From the Mac article. 130 mm? LEADING EDGE? Dear god, imagine 40 million transistors, ahh!
