64-bit Desktop this century?

I think everyone on Earth expected a 64-bit desktop platform by now.. yet all we see is this overly exaggerated, Apple G5 which frankly was tested in some of the most biased tests in history against PC chips?

When are we going to see a 64-bit desktop chip from AMD or Intel?
