I can't believe but its true. See here...
Cray (10000 opteron 148(2.2Ghz) up to 40 TFLOPS/40 billion floating points operations per sec):

Amd has had another deal to build a supercomputer in china. They first had one with cray where they used 10000 (2.2 Ghz) opteron 148 TO reach 40TFLOPS. Now they are going to build one in china using 2,192 (2.4 Ghz) opteron 850 TO reach 10TFLOPS. It seems they are getting better yeilds and are gaining better control over SOI on 0.13nm.
What is also new to note is that 8** series will have dual-cores and run 4-way cause they latency penalty for a real 8-way sytem in such config is very high.
Yep there ya go..<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by pirox on 07/24/03 05:51 PM.</EM></FONT></P>
