I can't believe but its true. See here...

Cray (10000 opteron 148(2.2Ghz) up to 40 TFLOPS/40 billion floating points operations per sec):

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?url=http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2003/0715/amd2.htm&lp=ja_en&tt=url

Red grid (2,192 basic frequency 2.4Ghz opteron 850, up to 10TFLOPS/10 billion floating points operations per sec):

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr?doit=done&urltext=http://www.dawning.com.cn/news/detail.asp?mark=0&newsid=642&catid=9&lp=zh_en

Amd has had another deal to build a supercomputer in china. They first had one with cray where they used 10000 (2.2 Ghz) opteron 148 TO reach 40TFLOPS. Now they are going to build one in china using 2,192 (2.4 Ghz) opteron 850 TO reach 10TFLOPS. It seems they are getting better yeilds and are gaining better control over SOI on 0.13nm.

What is also new to note is that 8** series will have dual-cores and run 4-way cause they latency penalty for a real 8-way sytem in such config is very high.

Yep there ya go..<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by pirox on 07/24/03 05:51 PM.</EM></FONT></P>

Now if they can just produce a 2.5GHz A64 to compete with the P4 3.4GHz released about the same time as the A64 intro!

This could be it, the Tbred B of K8s.

Here's hoping that this is all true. AMD has not announced any 850 models.

Yes, there is a 2.4Ghz version..i made up that model number but i think thats how AMD's gonna market it cause its not on with distributors yet....(its a deal thats why its special)

842 = 1.6 ... 844 = 1.8 .. 846=2.0 .. 848 = 2.2 .. (predicted rating)850 = 2.4 get it?

Yep there ya go..<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by pirox on 07/26/03 07:33 PM.</EM></FONT></P>

Correction its not billion but trillion calculations per second (teraOPS) using two calculations/clock cycle.
