I'm getting a new system and i need just a few questions answered. Came here for my first rig and u guys did a hella job at making a bang up system. I do plan to OC it to atleast 3 or 3.2, do you think pc3500 is enough or should i go for 3700? Here's what i'm thinking:

Abit Is7
2 512mb Kingston HyperX ddr3500
2 WD Raptors (raid'd of course)
Coolermaster Atc-111 case
P4 2.4c

Look good?
Also i need recomendations on a PSU. I have a vantec 520wt beast but the cable is like 4ft long, has 3 fans, and puts out hella heat and noise. So i'm looking for somethin maybe a little less hot and more air flow friendly.

For a cpu hsf i was thinking of the areoflow(the one that the fan is sideways instead of normal). I cant remember for the life of me what the heatsink was, i was looking at. It had a bunch of screw looking heatsink fins on it. Or if you know of a better heatsink yell at me bout it.

The customer is not always right.
If they were, they would do my job.

Showoff
PC3500 sound be sufficient... it really depends on the multiplier you are using in conjunction with the FSB and what memory timings you will use.
More Mhz isnt necessarily better. Lower latency can often give better results.
Check the rated timings of the memory modules you are looking at.

i think the best P4 aircooled heatsink ive seen is the Swiftech MCX4000. Cost alot though. can mount any 80mm fan you like.

As for you PSu 520W is close to the highest you can get, though im not sure how good quality wise it is. (the rated wattage ISN'T the best way to determine how good it is)
Excessive heat output from the psu is a sign that its reaching its limits.
Long cables with good PSU's are normal.... they allow use in ultra large cases. Maybe tie up the excess cable with cableties or something.

(I have an enermax 550W and the excess cable in mine actually sits nicely in one of the top 5.25" bays.)
My enermax also is respectfully quiet, even when conditions are hot and the temp dependent fan is runnign at full speed.

IMO buy Zalman CNPS7000 AL/Cu HSF.
