Hello Tom's community,

I would like to buy a surround sound system for my media center in the living room. I have a LCD TV 60'' samsung, PS3 -> Blue rays, computer connected via HDMI to HDTV for gaming and browsing. Considering that I'm mostly watching blue rays and playing games, what would be the best set-up for my living room ?

I just started reading on Home theater systems and I'm trying to figure it out on what would be a good for me. I'm looking to buy an amplifier with a 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system. Any suggestion on the speakers and amplifier brand ? Should I buy my system in a big store like for example; I've been told that the systems are overpriced and that I can buy something better for less. Taking for instance the 5.1 Boss system with a Boss amplifier for 1.7k (linked below), in that case the sellerman told me that I could get just the speakers and buy a seperate amplifier and save about 500$. I could save more if I buy from other compagny like psb.

What are the things to look at when buying a home theater system ?
Please share your thoughs and experience with me!
Thank you!
