Hello,
Approximately how large should the recovery partition of a Toshiba Satellite A505 be?
May it be deleted or formatted by mistake, or is it protected?

About 3 Gb or more.
It can be deleted, or in some cases it is hidden to protect you from doing so. It depends on how it was set up by the manufacturer of the laptop.
