Computer to projector

Hello,
I have a theater in my basement which up until recently included a Wii, DVD player, and satellite which were all run via component to a component splitter and then up to the projector as component and into the projector with a component to VGA cord. All is working well with this arrangement. The problem lies when I tried to add a computer to run movies through. I can get the computer to work when I run the VGA directly from the computer to the projector. When I try to hook up through the component splitter it doesn't work (HDMI to HDMI to component converter to component splitter to component to vga into projector). Any idea why this is not working? I can get an image but it is discolored yellow and poor quality. Any suggestions?

I should add that the reason I don't want to run the VGA directly is because it would mean disconnecting the vga at the projector to switch each time. If I can get the other route to work, it is much simpler and streamlined.
