Samsung 206BW Flickering

I've got a Samsung SyncMaster 206BW that's about 3-4 years old and has now started flickering on a regular basis. I keep it in pretty good condition, no mistreatment. It's not left on all the time.

I have it connected by DVI cable. ATI Radeon HD 5800. Intel i5.

I've replaced the DVI cable, updated the drivers for both the video card and the monitor. Can anyone suggest a solution?

The most likely issue is the backlight controller is starting to fail. I really doubt it is the video card, but you can test that out by connecting the monitor to another video card.

Well that's a bummer. Anyone else suggest something that may be a remedy?
