Hi there, i know nothing about networks really but i need to get a NIC to hook my pc up to my cable tv box for a broadband internet connection.
I have my system overclocked and i was wondering if any NICs are known to be better in this situation.

The other PCI cards in my 8KHA+ are an SBlive, which luckily i dont have problems with at present, and a 56K modem, which i will remove. (bye bye dial-up!)

Has anyone with network/overclocking experience got any info they can help me out with before buying? it only needs to be 10Base T standard but anything faster would be slightly more preferrable for future network use.

Thanks in advance, any info is greatly appreciated as always!

ps. since typing this my connection has timed out. Cant wait for cable...

Cable only runs at 3 mb average, so you don't have to really worry about speed of NIC. Just get yourself a 10/100 card and you'll be fine. 20 or 30 dollars should be fine.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.

ok thanks for the help, really appreciate it.

my main concerns are the fact i'm running a FSB of 150 DDR (300) and the fact that i got a SBlive 5.1 which is a real PCI bandwidth hog.

Are there any known NICs that use very little resources so as not to upset the SBlive, or rather a NIC that wont be upset by the SBlive?
