Just curious as to what Intel chipset my new cpu has as Sony's website is unclear.
System specs:
Sony Vaio PSV-RS320Pentium 4 2.60 GHZ with HT technology.
800 mhz frontside bus
512 mb 2700 ddr ram

Any help would be great. Thanks!!

Well the 2.6ghz with hyper threading is for sure a P4 c.These usually run on 865/875 chipset. Altough I cannot tell you thats what you have for sure.

Either i865 or i875 (G, P or PE)but most probably the 865 witch cost less.

Or it could be the SIS648 too...

AIDA32 will tell you which chipset you have. After downloading and installing it, execute it and navigate to the motherboard->chipset section. The information will be available there.

unless you have intregrated graphics, it is probably a 865pe. The 865p does not support the 200 mhz bus, and i dont think sony would use the expensive 875p mch chip. Although as someone else said, it could be an sis chipset, but that is unlikly.

the sis chipset is probably alot cheeper than the intel chipset...

3 386DX-25's...12 volts...glue some ln2 and a wicked amount of overclocking and you get a willamantee minus 36 pins, 33.75 million transistors and a couple hundred mhz...

Hehe, you know that information is right there in windows. Go to device manager, and look under system devices, it will tell you what northbridge and southbridge you have.
