What do I configure to stop Adobe Reader 6.0 from automatically
loading and showing PDF files that I click on when I am on line and in
IE? In other words, when I click on a PDF file, I want to be given
the option to download and save the PDF file instead of it always
loading Adobe Reader and showing it.

Right click on it and choose Save target as.
