That's putting it lightly.  I think saying "you make God cry" would have been more fitting, but meh, it's your post. ;)

Fact of the matter is i think everyone is being completely stupid about this...it is impossible for someone to be unbiased!  Thats just human nature for ya...even supreme court justices are bias!  Let it go...all of these stupid names...nvidiot and itelidiots and what not. It is stupid IMO to argue about something we have little info about...just wait for the benchies to come out and we will have a clean cut answer.

I sure hope via releases a new cpu that we can bash soon because alot of people are getting touchy lately!

3 386DX-25's...12 volts...glue some ln2 and a wicked amount of overclocking and you get a willamantee minus 36 pins, 33.75 million transistors and a couple hundred mhz...

popegoldx, can't you dump the caps? It's getting a little annoying. If you want attention, then you have to deserve it.

Oh, and if you're up to some real conversation...

Yes, the problem with Itanium is that it is not cheap, and there is no single- or dual-processor-limited version of Itanium. On larger servers, Itanium might make sense, because it has great performance potential - even more so than the Opteron... Itanium has an outstanding floating point performance that is superior than Opteron's. Its price has its implications and has slowed down consumer acceptance, however... But Itanium is certainly not inferior in performance.

Couldn't agree more on the caps, except it's not just getting a little annoying, it's always irritated the hell out of me

It's almost irrelevant anyway. Itanium makes up so tiny a proportion of the server market that it's hardly as if were talking "giant killers" here. It will take even longer to see if Opteron can establish itself in this area. Unfortunately for this thread, AMD vs. Intel just isn't a feature of the server market. It's possibly also worth pointing out that the article compares the original Itanium, not Itanium 2.
