If you get both these chips running at 11 * 200 (usually around 2205MHz)

What are the differences, eg. heat produced, VCore needed, performance etc.

Can anybody help out here?

At any given speed the barton will run faster than a TBred.

Heat, Vcore, Etc. will be about the same, but will depend to some extent on the individual chip itself.

The Barton will actually be easier to cool however, because its die has a slightly larger surface area, so a greater area is in contact with the heatsink.

and AMD_MAN is of course right - the Barton will outperform a tbred at the same clock speed/FSB.

BTW - you'll probably be able to get a slightly higher OC out of the barton anyway.

And with Barton if u r lucky u cud hit higheer clock, say about 2600MHz.

Or if you get an average barton like me, it will do 2.3ghz on 1.8 volts. Not bad though. And yes my barton runs about 6C cooler than my tbred 1700 at same speed/volts. If you get a good core (AQXEA) thats grey in colour the barton will do over 2.4ghz easily.

what r u upto with ur comp now? The 3D 03 score u have in ur sig is that off the Barton?

Check the overclocking cpu section m8.

2.55ghz on stock voltages with air cooling is just one of those rare things. I doubt anyone will get a result like that again. Im happy at 2.3 though and a stock gpu score of over 16250 in 01 is nice. I remember I had to push the 1700 to 2376 to get over 16200 stock gpu.

Im happy at 2.3 ...

...just like i am happy at 2.088Ghz with my 1700+ at 1.7V even though it cud do 2.2GHz at 1.95V. Ultimately what matters the most is if u r satisfied with it  .

mask are you watercooled?

3 386DX-25's...12 volts...glue some ln2 and a wicked amount of overclocking and you get a willamantee minus 36 pins, 33.75 million transistors and a couple hundred mhz...

i have even tried 2.05V once. When Prime95 was running, the full load temp went up to 68C!!!

yep, all that on aircooling.

hmm if i put an intel 4004 on an apollo it would be faster than my k6 too...

68c at 2.05v...sounds like fun!

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP

well, nice siggy!!

yup.. but my friend's Palamino 2000+ at stock speed and stock Vcore wud go as high as 73C at full load. And that is almost always.

Just a quick question sice we're talking about temps. Supposing a CPU goes to 55-60 full load would that be a reason for a bsod?

If not what are the symptoms of an HOT cpu like 60 and over.

Depends on the Chip, and how accurate that temperature really is.

If you want some suggestions, list ALL your system components, and exactly how and where it crashes.

N.B. 55-60C should be OK for most chips... but it depends on loads of things.

Heat is not the only reason to get BSOD. I get BSOD even when my CPU is running at 45C, but i get coz i have overclocked the CPU or the memory too much! Sometimes its the Graphics Card overclock. Someother times its mostly Windows. But with XP its not very often.

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove it

I know that, infact I don't think I've ever got BSOD becasue of heat, that's why I was asking.

hmm so it could also be my GC overclock :( Too many bluddy factors.

SIGH.
