I wanted to get the Nvidia 5900 Fx 256mb. I have only 128mb isn't that to little? MAybe you know what is the best cooling for my video card. I want to overclock it.
August 4, 2003 10:43:22 PM

well, mate, ur card is more than sufficient for the next 12 months or so if not more. most ppl even manage to play most of the games with a 64Mb or a 32 MB card.

About the mod, i have no idea. hang on for a while...

...or u cud post in the Overclocking 3D Chips section.

I want to overclock my 3,2? Can I change the bios settings in dell?
August 4, 2003 11:06:00 PM

you have possibly the best computer you could realistically buy
August 4, 2003 11:09:19 PM

Yeah I know thanks. I spend 3500$. What about that overclockin.

This person is either very young or pulling a prank.
Possibly getting our goats (hehe  couldn't resist  ).

Perhaps the person would like to trade us his sh**y Dell for an overclocked Celeron 300?

I'am 16. Can't overclock?
August 4, 2003 11:18:30 PM

i dont know about Dell computers... hang on for a while for someone to answer. Btw, what chipset does ur mobo have? Springdale? Canterwood? What RAM?

I only write to get more posts...
August 4, 2003 11:21:32 PM

I don't know. I have 400mhz ram.
August 4, 2003 11:34:10 PM

if you find out motherboard make and model someone will certainly be able to help, hint, open case and read it!!
August 4, 2003 11:35:20 PM

I have ran Sis Sandra. In cpu and bios information there are performence and there is a Warning 214:"Bios is flash-able but surface-mounted." What does that mean. can I flash the bios?
August 4, 2003 11:41:03 PM

if you find out what make your motherboard is you have then you can find out if there is a new bios revision you can get, even if there is you may not need it,
August 4, 2003 11:42:05 PM

It doesn;t say. Is there any program that can tell my what chipset I have and what memeory?
August 4, 2003 11:44:19 PM

well, i dont know about the warning that SiSoft Sandra shows, but what info does it show for Motherboard?

After going thru the Dell website, i think u either have a Springdale or Canterwood mobo. BTW, how much memory do u have? and how many RAM sticks?

I only write to get more posts...
August 4, 2003 11:48:18 PM

as suggested, open the case and look for the make of the mobo. Atleast let us know what color the mobo is, may be that cud help

And if u do open the case and find out the make, also look for the model number and the version/revision.

I have 2 sticks 512mb 400mhz.
August 4, 2003 11:54:45 PM

u got any manual about the mobo from Dell?

The best option wud be to open and look in

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove it
August 4, 2003 11:55:03 PM

What is the mobo?
August 5, 2003 12:02:05 AM

MOther BOard.

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove it
August 5, 2003 12:02:33 AM

I have a Intel 875P chipset. And memory is Hyundai.
August 5, 2003 12:17:12 AM

that warning means that your cmos is directly soldered to the pcb...

What does this mean?

If you flash the bios and something goes wrong you will have a dead board...

Open up the computer and look for any serial numbers...

My guess is that you won't find anything but DELL XXX-XXX-XXX... as they have gotten so big mobos are directly contracted for them...

BTW have you even checked the bios to see if you have any overclocking options?

Anyhow overclocking a p4 3.2 is stupid...but thats just me...

I have a much faster via c3 that i could give you for 700bux (j/k)

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP
August 5, 2003 12:21:41 AM

Yes i think it is a dell motherboard. Can i download some bios that will allow me overclock me.
August 5, 2003 12:28:22 AM

No..

why don't you just pick up an 865 based mobo for 100 bux and use that if you really want to overclock...

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP
August 5, 2003 12:36:11 AM

But i will have to change the case and power supply and motherbord. That I can't do.
August 5, 2003 12:37:52 AM

Which chipset set is better 875P or 865PE?
August 5, 2003 2:37:49 AM

865 are the hot Mobos.
August 5, 2003 2:39:20 AM

why will you have to change them? If that computer follows the atx form factor you will only have to change the mobo...

If you get a pat enabled 865pe board it is equal in speed to an 875 based board....

i like asus, abit's and gigabytes 865 based boards...

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP

A long time ago Dell switched to ATX cases with proprietary power supplies, then the switched to proprietary boards with ATX power supplies! Doh!

If you really want an FX5900 256MB, I'll give you a couple hundred for your current card, and you can use that toward your purchase.

yeah... $3500 coulda built one hell of a PC. a Watercooled Overclocked thing, that would destroy the Dell, performance-wise...

ajoha: Did that system come with a HUGE LCD monitor? Can't think of anything else that would cost that much...

The end is nigh.. (For this post at least)
August 7, 2003 3:18:36 PM

LOL!

Your 16. [pause]
You somehow had $3500 without opening your own porn site. [pause]
You want to o/c a 3.2Ghz P4. [pause]

[pause]
Um. All I can say is that if I had 3.5K sitting around I would probably have a parade and throw hundreds out to the little ghetto children, snort my first line of coke with a benjamin and have Pamela Anderson feed me grapes as she massages my nuts.

J/K

But if your story is true, you should learn from your mistake in buying first, then asking questions later...

But all you need to do is buy a new motherboard with o/c'ing options unless theres a bios hack out there for ya but I doubt it.. do a google search it fixes anything.

And I know nothing of P4 motherboards and I doubt dell does either so ask one of the associates here.
Probably going to cost you round $150, I like Abit motherboards personally.
Its my personal belief that unless you have one of those special o/cing cpus that has especially good performance results from air cooling (most of the 'c' revision P4s and 2500+) your better off not o/cing unless your going to go watercooling and get some real results.

So unless your playing stupid, I'd leave your nice machine alone.
Otherwise if you take the cpu out and bend any 6 pins, make sure they are bent all the way down and its preferable if you actually break them off the cpu, it will unlock your cpu and run it at unimaginable speeds.
Its the Pentium secret no one here wanted to tell you.
And dell has killed customers for knowing less.

Overclocking is not recommended for the unexperienced. You will void your nice little warrantee and possibly really screw something up.

You have a pretty sweet computer there; leave it alone and just enjoy it!
