if u dont mind overclocking go with the 2.4c. i've heard many good things about these. Ex. being able the clock up to 3ghz without a problem, and in some cases without much or even any vcore adjustment.
I like the ease of intel systems.
I like the fun of overclocking amd systems.

If you don't mind overclocking, you could get a Barton 2500+ for $90, slap it into a Nforce2 mobo and overclock to ~2.3 - ~2.4Ghz.. Will give performance akin to a 2.8Ghz P4C on the cheap. Obviously though, an Oced P4C will still thrash it though, will cost more though....
If you want performance on the cheap, 2500+ Oced can't be beat...
