for dhy
mine = 7229/1950mhz = 3.7 points per mhz
your pII = 1504/560mhz = 2.6 points per mhz

wow, i didnt realise work done per clock had increased so much over the years, i wonder what it would be for a p4 and an opteron?

p.s. i would love to see the results from a 286

p.p.s. piii_man, shouldnt it be pii_man?

you have to remember that i only have mmx enabled on this cpu...no other insturction sets

dhy and whe are a great way of comparing the processing horsepower of 2 cpus because they don't rely on memory or the agp card bla..bla

the 286 is lost...lol...i have a mainboard for it but no cpu...also i doubt it will run windows if i find it...the 386 will though

No i should not be pII_Man... I was playing around with the pII because it is a decent overclocker...i wanted to know the max bus speed my BX board can support...it seems as if it has no problem going to 142mhz fsb...the cpu is what is holding it back...BTW...ATi makes a damn good card...the agp bus speed is currently at 93mhz and it is perfectly stable...go ati go (this is a lowley rage pro too!)

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP

also i think that this pII has evolved into a piii-SX...lol

(haha prolly half the people here have no clue why i think that is funny...lol..)

First of all I want to let you all know that Sandra isnt a valid benchmark at the moment, because it seems to not support the extra cache of the barton cpus. My tbred @ 2.3ghz is faster than my barton @ 2.3ghz in this benchmark, but in 3dmark 03 and 2001se, the cpu score is much higher, and so is the overall score.

Heres my results anyway.....

AMD 2500xp @ 2.3ghz
2x256MB PC3200 (twinmos) @ 200mhz cas 2,3,3,6

How the heck are you guys getting over 7000 alu score???? Surely my barton @ 2.3ghz is faster than a 2100@ 1950mhz :/

hhhhmmmmmm, i think yours is low rather than mine high, did you have anything running in the background? does seem odd, yours should have nailed mine.

Nope, nothing running in the background. I get about that score all the time. It seems as though its just a sandra thing though as my cpu score in 3dmark03 is like 680 compared to my 2.4ghz tbred's score of 635. Maybe the nforce 2 chipset and 200fsb influence the scores or something? I get 3gb's memory bandwidth though.

Also note im running windows 98se, maybe sandra is optimized for xp? Only had this system running a few months, but in the pulldown window in sandra its performance says its where it should be, just above a 3200xp. Maybe its my version of sandra or something.
According to my sandra, a 2400 sould get 5753 alu and 3058 fpu, a 3200 should get 6290 and 3380 and i get just above the 3200....

you are forgetting that the dhy and whe benchmarks are purely cpu related...they are not effected by bus speed or cache or memory bandwith or anything but the raw processing power of the cpu...i could probably shut off the L2 cache of my pII and get the same score...

Also i have found...sorry to say this but sandra has very inacurate benchmarks...especially for memory bandwith...it fluctuates so much on my computers...it is just too inacurate...sandra's benchies are very synthetic and should be taken with a large heaping spoon of salt...

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP

I'm waiting on my Geil PC4000. Looking forward to running 1:1. May not help the CPU score too much.

it is obviouse that my pII is the bigest (.25 micron)....does that mean i win? I will put some heatsinks on the cache to see if i can get 600mhz out of this chip...it is the cache that seems to be holding me back

my pII would rip it...hehe...in all "real world" (not to be confused with MTV) tasks...

and i have a 386 next to my desk along with a 387...i really gotta fire em up...i beleive i have some dos benchmraks somewhere...that way i could compare them to my pIII system...that would be cool...however i have no powersupply that uses the old style AT connector lying around...maybe tomarrow i will partially dissasemble the k6...just to see if i can get that 386 chugging...

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP
