HP today announced its researchers have proven that a technology they invented could replace the transistor - the fundamental building block of computers for the last half century - leading to a new way to construct computers in the future.
In a paper published in today's Journal of Applied Physics, three members of HP Labs' Quantum Science Research (QSR) group propose and demonstrate a "crossbar latch," which provides the signal restoration and inversion required for general computing without the need for transistors. The technology could result in computers that are thousands of times more powerful than those that exist today.

One of the big problems is how errors scale with increased system size making algorithms like Shor's factoring algorithm rather unrealistic. On the other hand, fault tolerant algorithms have a serious shot at being carried out correctly on quantum comps. Right now I'm in the process of publishing a paper on fault tolerant integration on a quantum computer that is quadratically faster than Monte Carlo We will see where this goes tho- it'd be some funky shizz if realized hehe.
My team and I are developing a new dual boson phase introducer that should enable more accurate indirect observation of time scale ripples. Once we have this ready for production of course it will create much fuzz ball accuracy.. we all know how useful this will eventually be

I got to see but not touch a Crystal that used current to magnetically open and close an-gates (latches) and restore them to a previous state of open or closed.-
The proto type looked exactly like a display found in any GameBoy. The Engineer I was talking to had only one in house at the time. Very cool...When I go Ooooo AAaahhhh it's got to be interesting.
