Just looking thought my old stuff and found something interesting...

a nice old 286 chip with a woppin 12 mhz anywho, on it it says,

AMD
N80L286-12/S
H 016EOWI bla bla bla
(m) (c) INTEL 1982

now why on earth would a AMD chip be copyrighted by intel?... were they doin strange stuff together back in the day:O

Poor mans surround sound all the way!

At 1 time intel and amd were buds...they were pals!

Intel contracted amd's fabs...amd made chips for intel just as ibm contracted Roam (don't quite remember the spelling) Labs...cyrix contracted texas istruments and IBM...

The partenership pretty much stopped after the 386...intel had goten big enough it had no need for amd or their fabs...they parted...with a bunch of law suits...and that is that...

Intel went to the 486...amd contiued supping up the 386 archetecture...i think someone got 120mhz out of the 386...i don't remember if it was amd or Cyrix...

The k5 was amd's first real architecture that was designed soaly by amd...

Is your chip long and skinny or squareish?

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP
