if i am not mistaken Apple first had L3 Cache... the PC groups made fun of the idea, and now the Xeon did the same thing...except not so well...

Anyhow thought i'd mention it to who ever out there would say that Apple was stupid to try it, only to find that Intel was stupid to follow, should just stop picking on Apple. Funny that the Apple/IBM G5 removed it.

Its going to take till the end of the month for the first G5s to ship out...Joy

The K6-III used L1 and L2 on the processor and L3 on the motherboard.

I dont get the point of this thread? Many server processors have L3 cahce, infact, the majority of them do. Cache can benfit a processor or not depending on its configuration

As I recall, there were Pentium Pro variations with 2MB of L3 cache. Also, if you're refering to the recent G4 system's L3 cache, it's really nothing more than DDR memory running on a faster backside bus. Nowhere near the same as the on-die SRAM that the Xeon, Itanium, Power4 or Ultrasparks use.

yes, many of them have (mostly intel & amd cpus) but this is already an apple processor which doesn't works for desktop. And it doesn't even be used for servers.
