Yo,
I used to have a 1.33Athlon and just changed it to a 2400+ today. ran 3dmark 2001 to see what difference it would make but to my surprise it wasnt that much, i didnt even brake the 10000 mark! my old scores were 8375 and with the new cpu its 9739, souldnt this be highter???

My system specs are
2400+ XP
2x 512 pc2100 2.5cas
G4 Ti 4200 @ stock speeds
K7S5a MOBO

If you´ve only changed the CPU and the settings are the same, it seems right. It´s still a 1364 points increase just due to the CPU.

Try changing the memory timings, that should improve your score. You should also run your PC2100 in sync with the CPU to get the best performance.

I got +300 points just for optimizing my current memory.

Optimizing your memory should get you well over 10000 points, and you can always overclock your GPU if you really need the power.

pc2100 will synch automatically to a 266mhz fsb cpu...

The best way to increase 3dmark performane is to upgrade the gpu not cpu...i could almost guarantee you that my pIII system with a 9700 could beat your 3dmarks score (not that i have a 9700...yet... )

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP
