Hello,
I made a windows xp pro install and sysprepped it to create a "golden
image". Now I use Ghost to duplicate this image to the different pc's I
maintain. This works fine for 865G, 945G chipsets with attached sata drives.
However, when I try to place this image on my laptop with ICH6-M I get the
above mentioned stopcode. I assume this is because it can't find the drivers
for this sata controller. I've tried placing the driver in oempnpdriverspath
but this does not solve it. (Seems logical, I don't know how xp can read the
driver for the disk controller from the same disk)
Another solution is to use the $OEM$ structure but again, this is also
located on the very same disk. This is different when you install from cd or
a network share.
I found in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314082/ a solution to this
problem: add the drivers (iastor.sys) manually to the registry. They give an
example for "intelide" as follows:
;Add driver for intelide (requires intelide.sys in drivers directory)
So my question is now: can I follow the same procedure for iastor.sys and
what do I have to merge with the registry. I can imagine the ImagePath is
different for iastor.sys and maybe lots of other things to. Preferably, I'd
like to apply these changes directly to my ghost image.
