Question about resolutions

What are the standards aspect ratios from the games these days? 16:9 or 16:10?
I tought that was 16:9 because of movies and Full HD/1080p stuff...But, most of the gaming benchmarks only use 16:10 resolutions (1680×1050, 1920×1200, 2560×1600...)

Supported resolutions in games tend to follow a 16:10 aspect ratio predominantly (widescreen aspect ratio).. However, other (16:9) resolutions do exist such as 1920 x 1080, 1776 x 1000.. Benchmarks are mostly done with a 30'' monitor though so as to test the game on every possible resolution on a single display.. Therefore you'll see results based on resolutions such as 2560 x 1600, 1920 x 1200, 1680 x 1050 etc.. Furthermore, games are tested at the highest resolutions possible so as to eliminate the CPU role and judge the true strength of the video card..
