Cleaning out the temp directory

Last response: in Windows XP

Hello,

I have Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed. I am trying to clean the temp
directory but I am being told that the files are in use. I have diabled
everything including the internet and still get this.

It has slowed my computer down and it is only 1 yeear old and I can not do
much. How can I get rid of these files.

You can't delete any files that are in use; that's normal and is good, not
bad. But almost certainly it's only *some* of the files in the temp folder
that are in use. You can delete all the others.

You can delete them with Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools |
Disk Cleanup, or if you want to do it manually, in My Computer or Windows
Explorer, go to the temp folder, sort on ascending date (oldest files
first)press Ctrl-A to select all, then press delete. It will then try to
delete all the files starting with the oldest first. It will probably fail
on the last (most recent) few files, but that's OK. They will either be
deleted automatically when the app using them closes, or else you will get
them tomorrow or the next time you do this.

How do you know that "it has slowed [your] computer down"? My guess is that
it's probably for another reason entirely. Spyware is the most likely
culprit these days. What anti-spyware programs do you run, and how
frequently do you update them?

Not to mention that he's not a authorized Mirror for CCleaner - in fact,
they say you can provide a link to THEIR site, but you can't copy and
distribute the file from your own personal site.

I've never interviewed a MCSE that was worth hiring - at least not one
that tried to use his certification to prove he had worth.

You've proven that you barely quality for a Boot Camp type MCSE, since
you know so little about systems.

I have nothing to give up, I was here long before you learned about the
Internt and will be here long after you leave.

It would be nice if you got some respect for the programs you filch off
of good sites and then redistribute without the vendors permission and
with any credit to the vendor.

Two of the files you've posted links for don't allow you to distribute
them from your personal site, they do allow you to post a LINK to the
vendors site and allows the users to download from the VENDORS site, but
not your personal site.

Maybe if you got some ethics you wouldn't get such a hard time here.

Hello, Hello idiot are you there idiot Hello they do too otherwise I would
not do it. I keep asking you to post proof but you haven't yet. A public
link to a website for the average consumer is not proof. Get an email from
them stating that I, me cannot do it, not just anybody. You will not get
that email because I can. How many times do I have to tell you. EVERYTHING I
distribute from my site I have the legal right to do so. Can't you get that
thru your thick skull.

Wrong, you don't have permission to distribute SBS&D from your site,
here is a reply from them concerning your unethical behavior:

Dear Leythos,
thank you for your e-mail. I'll forward it to our legal-department to
see what we can do.

Sure seems to me, and anyone that can read, that you don't have
permission from them. Oh, and this would be the second time I posted
this showing that you don't have permission from them.

You can post a LINK to their site, but you can not host the files
without being an approved MIRROR, and MIRRORS carry the logo and such...

Yea, I didn't think you would post their approval - since you don't have
it.

Go ahead, post their approval letter to you with the company
representatives full name - Oh, that's right, you can't since you didn't
get permission.
