I'm trying to find the Windows 98SE
drivers for a Gateway G6-300 that has
built-in video. I went to Gateway's
web site and put in the serial #, but
it didn't have any video drivers listed
for any operating systems. The serial
# is 0010413420. Any ideas on how to
find the video drivers? Thanks for any
info you can give me.

Does you computer have the onboard video with built in DVD decoding?

If so it's an STB Nvidia chipset.

Here are links to two drivers for that chipset. It's the same video car
that came in my G6-300 I bought back in 1998.

or

http://support.gateway.com/s/VIDCARD/STB/v00761/v00761nv.shtml

The later is Rev 1, but both revisions use the same latest driver and the
driver only works with WIN95 and WIN98.

In fact, I just checked and both links goto the following driver download
link

Enjoy.

You've got an Anigma Andover board with an integrated Chromatic Research
mPact2 DVD-video chipset. Chromatic went bust a few years ago - ATI
acquired what was left and dropped support.

You may be able to get drivers from driverguide.com (requires free,
annoying registration) -- and the latest OS supported is Windows 98 -
the drivers will not work with 98SE, ME, 2000, NT or XP.

Easiest and most certain way I know is to open up the case and look for the
video chip. If I recall well, the graphics chip is an ATI Mach 64 or early ATI
Rage. For these, you can find drivers on the ATI web site. Same with any other
graphics chip. Go to the chip mfr's web site, if they are still in business.

If you previously ran Windows 95 on the system, the same drivers work for both
95 and 98... Ben Myers
