Why wont my dell computer recognize the keyboard and mouse

I just install a new CD player in my dell laptop and everything worked fine until the next day. when it would not recognize my mouse, keyboard or CD player. It keeps asking me for drivers for each of them and windows can't find the drivers so nothing works.

Did you have to remove the keyboard to add the new CD drive, could be the keyboard/mouse cables were disturbed. Try with an external mouse or keyboard.

If the drive is in a removable caddy, see what happens if you take it out.
