Every 18 months I buy a new state of the art laptop.

My Dell Inspiron 8100 with 512MB and geForce 2 go is getting long in the tooth.

I want 17" with at least 1600 by 1200 resolution, and I want ATI 9600 mobility or GeForce 5600 Go. Ideally I want this to be upgradeable.

Does anyone know if this exists ?

I know that Dell and Toshiba will announce new laptops at start of August which I believe have ATI 9600 radeon but dont know the screen sizes. Has anyone any more info ??

I went to the ATI site and there's two vendors listed that *say* they are using the 9600 ... Voodoo and then Eurocom (see here ).

but, i don't see any of their systems listed with the 9600 yet over on their sites. well - here some future -- 2nd one down ... but not 17"

Yes, but apparantly, it only has a resolution of 1400x900.

there is also this, a Sager, http://www.powernotebooks.com/prod [...] ay_size=17, but it also only has a res of 1440x900, and only a M9 for its graphics.

Voodoo just released their 17" notebook, but it is the most powerful system on the market, check them out at www.voodoo.ca

Not a fan of generic brand notebooks. Read the thread on the Gericom notebooks in this section for my posts, I explained my reasons too much.

voodoo makes good systems. I'm considering buying one.
