Resolution on bigger screens

If 1080p is 1920x1080 and theres HDTVs in all sizes, is there still the same amount of pixels in a 20" tv as a 42" tv?

  1. Yes. Screen size makes no difference. A 20" 1080p HDTV has the same number of pixels as a 55" 1080p HDTV.

  2. which is why smaller televisions will always look sharper than larger ones.

the tradeoff you get is a larger image. you often do not notice the lower pixels per inch rating in movies and games as you would when reading text or other such tasks.

i use a 40" 1080p tv as my monitor and i can tell you although it works fine my old 20" was much sharper at 1600x1200.
