Athlon MPs

If I understand right, Athlon MPs are just Athlon XPs that have been qualified to run in a dual processor system. So then I assume that when AMD switched the XP from palomino to thoroughbred to barton that the MP switched with it right? I've been searching the AMD site but can't seem to get a straight answer. Thanks in advance
