I have a Athlon 2600+ and I need to know the normal operating temperature for this chip. So I know what to set the warning alarm at. Because My system keeps rebooting and it beeps all the time and such. Also my Radeon 9800 heat alarm keeps going of. Its an OEM, and I was wodering if it shipped overclocked. How can I check?

The 2100+ is no exception, being the very last 0.18 micron CPU. During our testing, normal operating temperature, with a pretty big sized heatsink and a loud fan, is around 50-55 degrees for this chip. Compare that to the P4 2.4, which hardly got over 35 degrees with the stock Intel cooler!
My 2200+ run about like this 50-60 depending on load, ambient air, etc.

An approximation of the typical readings from a Bios or externals software utility is expected to be around 60-65C or lower. </b>

How can u check?

Get AMD "cpuid", maybe "sisoftware sandra" to tell what kind of cpu you have.

For me a Tbird 2700+@175x13=2275 I get 57C idle and 69C running TOAST with the stock heatsink+ delta fan@6000rpm the room temp is 26C and the case temp is 30C.
If you are below 70C under load you are OK.
Steve

Beam me up Scotty.

That would be a 2700+ Tbred, and that OC gain isn't even worth the risk, I'm running a 2700+ under load 43c with a Vantec Aeroflow, maybe you should consider a new Heatsink.

Running a chip that hot is suicide imo. My barton becomes unstable @ 60c. The short term limit for most tbreds is about 80C. Thats the maximum temp it will tolerate. 69c load for any ammount of time is going to shorten the cpu's lifespan considerably.
