I need to install Windows XP on a laptop (Dell Latitude CPx H500GT) but I
don't have the CD modular drive for it.
How do I install XP with no built-in CD-ROM drive? The only other options I
have is a ethernet PC card, one USB port and I do have a USB enclosure (for
use with 3.5 hard drives or 5.25 cd/dvd drives)

Copy your valid XP cd to a folder on a system with a drive, zip the folder,
upload it to here www.yousendit.com Download it to the system without the
drive, unzip it then run the setup using you valid XP license key.

Would only require the i386 folder, not the whole CD-ROM to install.
Download might be tolerable on DSL/Cable but with Asymmetrical service
the upload to the server would take ~5-6 hours. Better to take the drive
out,use a desktop conversion adapter, format to FAT32 and install the
i386 folder and then start setup with the 6-disk floppy or use a DOS boot
floppy with Smartdrv.Exe and then invoke WInNT.Exe from the disk
based folder.
Still seems like a lot of workarounds. He never mentioned the vendor,
model notebook but CD replacement units would be cheaper than the
"Reinventing-the-Wheel" process.

Do you have a floppy module? I've heard you can copy Win XP to (a lot
of) floppies. Never tried it.

First, you will have to arrange about six months off from work, as the
process of creating the necessary floppies and then installing from said
floppies is going to take months.
