I just added a Athlon Xp 3000 with a 400mHz FSB to the motherboard.

I guess I thought the motherboard had a 400mHz FSB. Looks like its just for the memory.

Any idea what Bios settings I should use.

I have the freq set at 166 with a multiplier at 12.5.

It seems to post okay and isn't too hot.

Has anyone else used this processor in this board and what settings did they use?

Thanks.

AMD don't make a 400Mhz FSB 3000+.
The only XP that runs on a 400Mhz FSB is the 3200+.

The setting you have it running on are the correct settings for the chip if you don't want to overclock.

I donnt know whether it have a 400 FSB support, but one thing i am clear about is if you use FSB over 333 Mhz,u can only set the mem at 333 Mhz.

Should be able to find the 3000+ 400MHz FSB CPU by doing a search for Model#: AXDA3000DKV4E on froogle.

I had a look around the sites I buy stuff from, and couldn't find it

Thanks for the heads up!

Back to the original poster though, his mobo doesn't support faster than 166 anyhow, which is a shame for him I guess, as his CPU won't have higher than a 12.5x Multi available... Could try upping the FSB little by little... I guess it's gonna be using a 1/5 PCI divider, so it should be able to get to ~180FSB before the PCI bus starts giving problems, Provided the Chipset and memory supports it of course.

Thanks for the replys.

I had been working on a couple of different computers and sometimes you forget which one your on. I had just read an article on the Nvidia boards and somehow got confused as to whether this board could take a 400mHz FSB.

When I plugged it in it would only multiply by 10.5 thinking it was on a 400Mhz board. I was concerned before I spent time loading the operating system that it would be an incompatible processor for this board.

Though its running at a slower FSB (its presently at 333) it seems to be working okay.

Here's a link to the settings.

Yeah 166fsb is still pretty respectable.
Do you have access to the multipliers?
If so you can try getting it up to 200fsb with a lower multipler. see if it works (and see if it has the 1/6 divider)

KT400 will NOT support 400MHz FSB, you have wasted a 400FSB 3000+ on the VIA crap. It's true that you can run at 333FSB but I don't think you deserve that because you have paid for a 3000+ which should run at 400FSB. If you want to run at 400FSB, get a nForce2 400/Ultra 400, or if you are addicted to VIA, KT600 is the one. BTW, the multiplier of your 3000+ is correct, the default is 10.5*200=2100MHz.

Me fail English? That's Unpossible!

I believe your board does have 6/1 dividers, and it's easy for you to check. Go into your bios and up the fsb to 200. Beside the 200 is your pci speed. If this is 33, you have the 6/1 divider. If so, you could try to boot with 10.5X200. If that works, you might even up the multiplier. If it doesn't post, no big deal, just turn off and back on until it lets you into the bios again. I sure as hill would try.
