Canon i550 says printer head not installed.. help?

Have a Canon i550 printer. Had 7 orange flashing lights then green. per all the web advice (and Canon helpdesk), got the printer head out and cleaned per instructions.

Excellent.. flashing lights now gone. Went to print and got the message that the printer head is not installed.

Any suggestions? Love this printer and really don't want to be forced to buy a new one.

Clean the print head contacts on the head and in the printer. Failing that, buy a new print head
